The ZT1 54P itself has been fine. My dealer dropped the ball on delivery, missed scheduled service, and was unhelpful when I asked questions. Buy from a different dealer if you can. Mower gets a higher rating than the buying experience.
The front caster suspension is legit - I have 2 acres with some rough spots and rolling terrain and the ZT1 54P handles it dramatically better than my old zero turn. 770 lbs of shock absorption is a real thing you feel every ride.
Owned Cub Cadets with Kohler engines and now this one with the Kawasaki FR691V. The Kawasaki is noticeably smoother, quieter, and has better torque under load. Worth stepping up for the commercial-grade engine.
For weekend homeowner mowing the ZT1 54P is fine. If you're mowing several acres regularly you might want to step up to a Cub Cadet Pro Z or a Scag. This is a solid residential mower, not a light commercial one despite the Kawasaki.
My property has some serious washboard from tractor traffic and old drainage. My old zero turn beat me up on those sections. The ZT1 54P suspension smooths them out - I can actually mow the full property in one go now.
