Reviews
One of the reasons I chose the ZT1 54 over cheaper zero turns was the fully e-coated corrosion protection. Frame and deck components have held up beautifully through a wet spring and salty winter storage. Real durability feature.
The ZT1 54 itself has been fine. My dealer dropped the ball on delivery and follow-up. Cub Cadet's dealer network varies dramatically - shop around before buying. Mower rates higher than the buying experience.
The ZT1 54 is excellent overall but the seat gets uncomfortable after 90+ minutes of mowing. Fine for average sessions but for larger properties consider a seat upgrade. Kohler engine and deck are top notch.
For a residential zero turn the ZT1 54 is fine. Kohler engine is the strong point. Compare against Toro TimeCutter, John Deere Z300, and Husqvarna at similar prices - all are similar. Nothing distinctly better or worse.
Spring growth in the shady sections can get thick before I can mow. The 24 HP Kohler has plenty of power to handle it without slowing down. The V-twin torque is what you need for real mowing conditions.
