For residential mowing the ZT1 50 is fine. If you're looking at this class also compare Toro TimeCutter, Husqvarna, and John Deere Z300. All are competitive. The Kawasaki engine is what pushed me to Cub Cadet but honestly all these mowers are similar.
Cub Cadet markets this for up to 4 acres and I'd agree with that. My 3 acre lot gets mowed in a comfortable 90 minutes. The 50 inch deck is a good balance between cutting speed and maneuverability around obstacles.
Had a spindle bearing issue in the first 30 hours. Warranty covered it eventually but the process took weeks with dealer back and forth. Mower works fine when working. Cub Cadet warranty support could be much better.
The ZT1 50 itself has been fine. My dealer was a disaster - missed delivery date, missed service appointment, unhelpful on questions. Shop around for a good Cub Cadet dealer before buying. Mower is better than the buying experience.
For the price you get a commercial-grade Kawasaki engine, a well-designed AeroForce deck, and true zero turn performance. Compared to Toro TimeCutter and Ariens IKON at similar price the Cub Cadet is a strong choice.
